Visa Application Status

If your case was refused under a “221 (g)”  of the Immigration and Nationality Act for administrative processing, you can now check the status of your case online!

Please follow the instructions below to check your case status.

STEP 1:  Go to Visa Status Check

STEP 2:  Select your visa application type. For nonimmigrant visas, select “NONIMMIGRANT VISA (NIV).” For immigrant visas, select “IMMIGRANT VISA (IV).”

STEP 3:  Select the location of your interview and enter your case number. For nonimmigrant visas, select “COLOMBIA, BOGOTA” and enter the nonimmigrant visa case number written on the letter the consular officer gave you at your interview. The case number must be written exactly as is shown on the letter, including spaces:

 For immigrant visas, enter your immigrant visa case number.

STEP 4: Submit your inquiry by clicking “SUBMIT”. Your case status will appear in blue.  The most common responses are below:

  • “ISSUED” = Your visa was approved, your passport and visa will arrive in 10 to 14 business days at the DHL office you selected.
  • “REFUSED” = Your visa was refused and you will be contacted shortly regarding the reason for refusal.
  • “ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING” = Your case is still pending. No further information is necessary.
