An emphasis on human rights permeates our bilateral relationship with Colombia.  Colombian policies to improve respect for human rights have led to significant progress in the past years, but extrajudicial executions, impunity, displacement, and violence against vulnerable populations and unionists remain serious problems.

The Department of State produces several reports related to human rights in Colombia, including the Human Rights Report, the International Religious Freedom Report, Trafficking in Persons Report, and the Advancing Freedom and Democracy Report.  Additionally, the Embassy maintains regular dialogue with the government and civil society to promote human rights objectives.
