Nonimmigrant Visa Unit

Suggested Supporting Documents

The following are suggested documents that you may wish to present to support your visa application. Please note, however, that presenting these documents does not guarantee that you will receive a visa. Please read the list carefully, and if you decide to present any of the documents, present only those that pertain to your particular case. If possible, present original documents. This list is by no means an exhaustive list; you should bring whatever documents you think are relevant to your case.

Documents from the United States, such as invitation letters, evidence that you are scheduled to attend a business meeting in the United States, etc., may be useful to clarify the reasons for your proposed travel but are not as important as those that indicate your economic, social, family, and professional ties to Colombia.

Documents related to your employment, such as:

letter from your employer stating

  1. your job title
  2. how long you have been employed
  3. your monthly salary
  4. how many days of leave are granted for your trip
  5. pay stubs

Documents related to your financial situation, such as:

  1. original bank statements for the last several months
  2. deeds to any property you own
  3. Colombian tax documentation
  4. chambers of commerce registrations, etc.

Documents related to your family ties, such as:

  1. certified copies of birth and marriage certificates
  2. certified copies of baptism and religious marriage certificates
