Alabama Trade Mission travels to Colombia to Solidify Business Strategies

Alabama Governor Bob Riley and representatives from over 13 Alabama companies organized a Trade Mission to Colombia from November 3 to November 6, 2009. The objective of the visit was to seek business opportunities between the United States and Colombia. The mission will help participating firms gain market information, make business and government contacts, solidify business strategies and advance specific projects, towards the goal of increasing U.S. exports to Colombia.

The delegation met with President Alvaro Uribe Velez and other government officials. Additionally, they met with the governors of Antioquia, Caldas, Cundinamarca and Risaralda. They also met with businessmen from Bogota and Cali to analyze business possibilities between both countries.

Some of the companies that comprised the delegation represented an ample variety of economic sectors including industrial and regional water treatment companies, rugs and carpets, medical equipment, steel, mobile hydraulic equipment, and telecommunications, rubber equipment for impact absorption and abrasion resistance, among others.
