U.S. supports new health center in Valencia (Córdoba)
The U.S. Government, through the Milgroup’s Civil Affairs Office, inaugurated on December 18 a Health Center in Guadual, Valencia in the Department of Córdoba. The U.S. invested US$ 100,000 and will benefit 1,261 families in the region. The inauguration ended with a Medical Readiness Training Exercise.
The Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Brian Nichols, Diego Molano, Director of Social Programs at the Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation, the Mayor of Valencia, Samuel Correa, and Colonel Jorge Salgado, commander of the 11th Army Brigade, participated in the opening ceremony.
The DCM, Brian Nichols, also visited the Minuto de Dios Community Center in Montería which was built in 2004 with resources from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide services to vulnerable and displaced communities in the region. The center that had a cost of US$ 420,000 offers training in carpentry, bakery, cosmetology, and computers, among others. The Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation contributed to this center assigning resources to increase training opportunities.
