July 9, 2009
Over 4,000 people will benefit from humanitarian activities carried out by U.S. Army Reserve members throughout the month of July in Cartagena, Colombia. This initiative, known as Beyond the Horizon, is part of the U.S. Southern Command’s humanitarian assistance exercise programs. Activities include providing medical services at the Navy Hospital, organizing health brigades at the Omaira Sánchez School and remodeling the La Candelaria Orphanage.
Beyond the Horizon has deployed nearly 100 US servicemen in the last six months, seeking to strengthen binational ties between the United States and countries in Latin American and the Caribbean.
