Secretary of Defense to Visit Colombia
U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will visit Colombia on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007. Secretary Gates will meet with President Uribe then attend a signing ceremony for a U.S. assistance program at Casa Nariño. Secretary Gates will then proceed to a military installation where he will meet with Minister of Defense Juan Manuel Santos and Armed Forces Commander General Freddy Padilla.
Secretary Gates will conclude his visit to Colombia with a joint press availability with Minister Santos at the CATAM airbase in Bogotá prior to his departure. All press availabilities are being coordinated by the Ministry of Defense press office.
Robert M. Gates was sworn in on December 18, 2006, as the 22nd Secretary of Defense.
